Scandinavian with Qd6

The main problem with 3...Qd6 in fast time controls is 4. Ne4 which wins immediately after 4...Nf6 5.Nxd6+. I must have won with this move at least 20 times. Don't premove, kids.

I like the Qd8 line.

I do not play the Scandi, but I think Qd8 is good beacuse there are less tempo gainers. Of course, Qa5 and Qd6 are good as well, some strong players even tried Qe5+ with the idea of c6, f.b. Qc7.

There is a book by Kotronias "The safest Scandinavian" (2016) about this Qd6 stuff.

Kotronias is very dynamic and aggressive (as a chess player, of course).

No. The more solid plan is steady development first: e.g. ...c6, ...Qc7, ...Nf6, ...Bf5, ...Nbd7, ...Bd6, in some order then either ...o-o or ...o-o-o and only then ...c5, or ...e5 or ...b5, according to circumstances.
