Playing chess on the street

Today after my calculus class I was walking through downtown towards my car, which is a few blocks from class. I noticed to men playing chess on the side walk by the city bus stop. One of them noticed that I stopped to watch and said "This guy knows whats going on, he's got next." So I watched them play. After their game was over I played 3 games with one of them winning two and losing one in about thirty minutes. Has anyone ever came across a random chess game such as this?
Sort of. I was on vacation at Butchart Garden in Canada and their was a big chess set and a guy from Europe was playing with his girlfriend. He was sort of telling her what to do and I sat down to watch with my Grandma and I was explaining to her what was going on (LOL she had no idea what I was talking about, I tried to teach her to play once after that but she was still confused). Then, the girl who was playing asked, "Do you want to play?" So I finished losing a hopeless position (I should've asked to start over).

But not on the streets, I live in the subarbs. Sometimes I ask someone if they play chess, and sometimes if I have a board on me we play a few casual games (which I almost always win).
In Europe, I didn't visit a city in which there wasn't a chess game being played in an outdoor cafe.
In the New York, there is the famous players playing in the park, and in San Francisco, there are hustlers on Market St. These aren't random, but they are out in the streets.
There are many stories from the olden days where even World Champions would play in the coffee house. On long bus/train commutes, lots of people play chess just to pass the time. (In the US, it is more important to spend this valuable time doing work/studying.)
In Budapest you can play in public for money at the railway stations or in the pedestrian zone. In played once up to 500 forint which was a couple of dollars. When I won against beggars though I always returned the money. I don't wanna take something from the poor.

By the way, blitzing the first time for money (albeit very little) makes you play with 1000 Elo lower because of your nerves. :D
There are a couple of parks in my city (Seattle) which have chess sets that people can borrow in exchange for their I.D. Aside from playing family, it's actually the only place I've ever played anyone in real life, as opposed to online games.
During the summer I sometimes play with a friend in a beer garden, it's not uncommon for somebody to come and watch or even ask to play.

Sadly, the random guy is often too drunk to be enjoyable company.

Also, a random guy will get absolutely destroyed, so in a public house set up it's not that fun to play people you don't know.

In my childhood I visited a local park which had local chess club guys playing with giant chess pieces. People would hang out and take turns playing, I played the first guy other than my father there, also beat the first adult in my life there (felt good man).

They haven't done that since the 90's, but it was so much fun that I'm hoping to bring that back. I own giant chess pieces now, if I find a suitable park near my place I might start hosting such park chess, to payback for the good memories.
Playing chess in the Park?! This watch is one of the best days of my life spent in the men's campaign! Can be compared only with fishing.
In Moscow, I play chess in the sauna every week. Usually there are 6-7 people. They usually play with the chess clock. Usually for 10 minutes. Rating ELO 1600-1800 :)
i thought this would be from beep beep i'm a jeep and then i see it's not really on a street
