I played 7 games today, won 5 out of 7 complete games, only aborted one I believe (went back and checked and shows no aborts anymore in the history) and always resign and do not time out (I found one time out about 2-3 weeks ago).
In fact, one player today timed out on me. And I had a couple abort on me today.
Why am I seeing the ban page? Is it a bug?
To answer my own question, I did find 2 where I aborted in the last 8 hours, and 2 aborted on me, in the last 8 hours. I did one because I didn't have enough power on the laptop. I always resign and don't time out on people.
Perhaps 2 is enough, and perhaps I need to sign out every time, I often don't close my tabs on the laptop and stay signed in between sessions.
also having this problem, and have posted on the forum for lichess feedback/bugs about it.
I don't like playing people that have under 50 games. I usually check to see number of games my opponent has played. Is this a thing of the past?Must I play all players that accept my challenges?
I have played 2,140 games, all rated, 1193 wins and 875 losses, 56% win rate, 40% loss rate.
I'm very careful with my stats, though I'm still a lower rated player. I think I know what AzRedRider means (I'm from Az too, brother, if that's where you are), but just because a player has under 50 games on lichess (in other words a provisional player) doesn't necessarily mean they are a new player, they could be a higher rated player for all you know. I think playing a provisional player is more fun sometimes because you really don't know what you are getting, generally speaking.
And I think I know what you mean by not wanting to play everyone. I now set my parameters carefully, not too low, not too high to try and keep my play challenging without wrecking my stats by dishonest players.
The only reasons I ever abort is
1) running out of power right at the moment I try and start a game;
2) the old lady starts screaming she needs the computer;
3) I need to take a shit real bad;
4) the dog needs to take a shit real bad
LOL
Thanks, bro, see you on the battlefield

Yeah I also ran into this problem. It's taking Lichess a while to getting around to fixing it. For now count from 15 when you start a game. If you abort it after that point then it's "okay." Hopefully in the future they'll either add an indicator that it's okay to abort like a flashing abort button, or perhaps simply don't allow people to abort until 15 seconds, or even get rid of it altogether.
It's fixed now.
I think this whole thing about punishing people you abort / abandon is overkill...
I think a better way is if you could set something in your "create game" where you prefer players who "abandon less often" or something.... most people are not assholes...
