About me
Hey there! I'm a 25 year old living in Denver, Colorado. After learning the game as a kid, I played my first rated tournament at 16. A fun fact about me is that I went from 1500 USCF to 2000 in under a year. I finally achieved my lifetime goal of National Master in 2024 after getting serious about my study habits.
Playing experience
I've lived in Denver, Colorado for most of my life and have been playing Colorado tournaments for the past 9 years. I've also played rated tournaments in Spain, Mexico and Argentina. Recently I won the Colorado Closed Championship and Denver Chess Club Championship.
Teaching experience
I started a chess club at my high school and introduced the game to lots of new players, as well teaching intermediate players. I have one year experience coaching scholastic players.
Teaching methodology
The first step of my lessons is reviewing games my students have played, either over the board, or serious online rapid games. We'll identify a pattern of mistakes and tailor a plan of lessons to target those areas. We'll review classic games from history to improve positional understanding and opening knowledge. We'll study tactics and endgame studies to improve the most important skill in a chess players' arsenal: calculation. Online lessons are conducted over Zoom.
