New Game Mode Request: Tactics Trainer Competition

I heard this suggestion from a friend and thought it was a really cool idea. The developers at Lichess are enterprising, so I thought I'd give it a go:

Pair players against one another in tactics trainers battles. Each player is given 5 (or maybe 3?) identical puzzles to solve. Whoever can solve the puzzles first wins. Each failed puzzle counts against the total. There could be a rating associated with this.

I think it could.... actually be more popular than some of the variants used on the site. And it would encourage use of the tactics trainer assemblage.

Let me know your thoughts,
David
I hadn't heard that idea, but it sounds a lot like a Mathcounts countdown round. Mathcounts is a middle school math competition in the United States, and an exciting part of it is the countdown round, where 2 people compete against each other to solve a problem in 45 seconds. The first person to answer correctly gets a point, but each person only gets one chance to answer correctly; if one person gets the answer wrong, the other has the rest of the time to answer. The competition usually ends when a player reaches a certain score, or with whoever has the highest score after a predetermined number of problems.

This can be a lot of fun with math problems, but I've never tried it with chess problems. I'm sure lichess developers are busy enough and I don't think this should be a high priority for them at all, but if one of them wants to try something new with tactics, I don't think something like what I or the original poster proposed is a bad idea, and it doesn't seem more difficult to code than hosting a normal chess game (not that hosting a chess game seems like an easy thing to code at all).
Brilliant. Hope the developers 'consider' the request. #MakeLichessEvenBetter
