1.Bb7++ is mate in 3 moves. Black can play 1. ..Qa5. Thus 1. Bc8 is correct, and 1. Bb7++ "acceptable".
Hm. I seemed to get it. Bc8 is just a faster checkmate. However, I do think it should at least say "good move. But you can do better."

I would like to cancel my first statement. It's wrong. Chess is really not an easy game.
Just so everyone is clear, Bb7 is also a mate in 2, which is the point of my post. I would not bother people with a mate in 3 vs mate in 2 debate :)
