Does the blitz 'metagame' seem to have moved to 'Play fast, Play weak'? Why is this?

Just an observation. Of course the theme of blitz is always play weak, play fast - but it just seems over the past couple of years on Lichess that it has migrated more and more towards play very weak, play very fast.
The whole internet community replaced quality by speed.
You may remedy this to some extent by playing 3+2 instead of 5+0.

As for me, I like to play 3+3. But note, that while playing 3+0 I sometimes forget this and play in wrong, 3+3 style.

Another drawback of 3+2: this site dumb crazy idiotic silly berserking rules. While sane human shoud make 1.5+1 for berserk, this site makes 1.5+0 for 3+2 game.
True, a lot of players care more about their "coordinates"-score compared to the quality of moves and are very strong in time scrambles.

Not a huge surprise. as one of the two main strengths of lichess (besides cheater detection) is the smooth gaming interface.

Compared to some of the competitors lichess is lacking when it comes to "classical" chess content and has been promoting faster time controls for quite a while.

This may have lead to a playerbase which is somewhat skewed towards result-oriented play and flagging. That said, a large fraction of players is somewhat "neutral" in this regard (players active on multiple sites or playing in a non-characteristic way).

EDIT: these are just my observations, no hard evidence presented above.
@Sarg0n Exactly..
With an additional option of Berserk! which in my opinion is not useful for classical/mainstream chess...
Other than that lichess is the best site for playing!
@Rrhyddhad It's tough to really qualify exactly, which is why I was curious if other people have observed or 'felt' something similar. It might not even be true!

Maybe one that can be quantified is that I seem to be facing more otherwise similarly strong players that are losing with substantial amounts of time on their clock. E.g. - having very near 2 minutes left when resigning in a 3 minute game. Not for opening goofs or anything like that - but people making a conscious decision to sacrifice quality of play for a greater chance at flagging.

For me whether it is bullet or blitz, I see playing online as closer to a video game than a board game, it is all to kill some time. Having fun and getting points feels the priority than anything else. I dont think people would go on here for the artistic enjoyment of playing a perfect strategic game.

Meta is whatever works right? So I guess people play for flagging because it is what works best within their skill set. Of couse playing good moves is the best strategy, but getting stronger at chess is like getting stronger physically, you can’t do it past a certain point just because you want it. Playing a bit faster on the other hand is easier.
